The Marlins Strike First in Miami
The Giants landed in Miami needing a win after dropping the night before, 3-6. Their ace Logan Webb took the mound at loanDepot park, ready to shut down the Marlins' offense. But Kyle Stowers had other plans. In the bottom of the second inning, Stowers crushed a fastball deep to center field. The ball rocketed 426 feet over the wall and the crowd erupted. One swing, and Miami led 1-0. Webb settled in after that, throwing strikes and keeping runners off base. The Giants trailed early, but the game was far from over. You could feel the tension building as both teams dug in for a battle.
Schmitt Ties It Up, Lopez Puts Miami Ahead
Casey Schmitt answered back for San Francisco. In the top of the third inning, Schmitt ripped a single to right field. Luis Arraez came flying around third and slid across the plate hard. The score was tied at 1-1. Webb kept pitching strong, but then Otto Lopez stepped up in the bottom of the fourth. Logan Webb fired an 87-mile-per-hour cutter. Lopez connected and drove a double into center field. Stowers raced home from second base. Miami regained the lead 2-1. The Marlins' bats were alive. Every pitch Webb threw seemed dangerous. You could see the Giants' pitcher fighting to stay in the game, throwing eight innings total.
Miami Holds On for the Victory
The Giants pushed hard but couldn't find the magic hit they needed. Webb's arm got tired after eight strong innings. The Marlins brought in fresh relievers to lock down the win. John King threw 1.1 innings for Miami. Calvin Faucher pitched 1.1 innings. Lake Bachar came in to finish things off with a save. The game ended 2-1, Miami on top. The Marlins improved to 40-38, winning their fourth straight game. They're hot at home with a 26-16 record there. The Giants fell to 31-46 overall, extending their losing streak to three games straight. Webb pitched well but got no run support when it mattered most. For you as a Giants fan, this loss stings, especially on the road.
