Chapman's Blast and Milwaukee's Offensive Explosion
The San Francisco Giants came to Milwaukee on Monday night looking to bounce back after losing their last game. But the Brewers had other plans. Right from the second inning, you could feel the momentum shift. Matt Chapman stepped up to the plate against Shane Drohan and crushed a fastball deep to center field. The ball flew 391 feet and the crowd roared. Jung Hoo Lee scored on that two-run shot. But Milwaukee answered back fast. Sal Frelick doubled down the right line. Luis Rengifo singled to center. Then Jackson Chourio smashed a double that scored two more runs. The Brewers were just getting started. Brice Turang tripled to right and two more runs came home. William Contreras added a sacrifice fly. Before you knew it, the Brewers led 7-2 after just two innings. The Giants never recovered from that early burst.
Milwaukee's Pitching Staff Takes Control of the Game
Once the Brewers jumped ahead, their pitchers locked down the Giants' offense. Landen Roupp started for San Francisco, but he couldn't hold back Milwaukee's bats. The Brewers kept swinging and connecting. In the fourth inning, Andrew Vaughn singled to right. A fielding error by right fielder Jung Hoo Lee made things worse. Two more runs scored on that play. The Brewers extended their lead to 10-2. Milwaukee's batters were relentless. Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio each got hits. The pitching matchup got tougher as the game went on. Shane Drohan started strong for Milwaukee, giving up just two runs through four innings while striking out five. The Giants couldn't string together any offense after Chapman's early blast. By the middle of the game, you knew this one was over. The Brewers' lineup was simply too much.
The Brewers Deliver the Knockout Punch in the Eighth Inning
The Brewers saved their biggest punch for the eighth inning. That's when they really put the game away. Christian Yelich singled to center. Then Chourio drove in another run with a single to right. Joey Ortiz doubled to right and two more runs scored. William Contreras added a sacrifice fly and the Brewers were up 16-2. It was a complete takeover. The Giants' pitching staff couldn't find a way to slow down Milwaukee's bats. Every Brewer in the lineup seemed to get a hit. The final score told the whole story: Milwaukee 16, San Francisco 2. The Brewers improved to 36-21 on the season, now riding a two-game winning streak. The Giants fell to 23-37 after their loss. This game showed just how powerful Milwaukee's lineup could be when everything clicked at the right time.
