Rays beat White Sox 8–5 at home
Tuesday night was loud at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Chicago White Sox 8–5. The Rays came in with a mix of strong pitchers and depth, and Shane McClanahan started for Tampa Bay. The White Sox sent Noah Schultz to the mound while their young rotation tried to hold the line. Early offense set the tone, and the game swung back and forth before Tampa Bay pulled ahead. Fans saw big hits, a throwing error, and two home runs that kept the game exciting. This win moved the Rays to 8-7 after Tuesday.
Early scoring and third-inning rally
The Rays struck first in the top of the first inning with aggressive hitting. Vilade doubled to left and Aranda scored, giving Tampa Bay an early lead. Then Williamson laid down a sacrifice bunt that led to two runs after a throwing error by pitcher Schultz. Tampa Bay led 3–0 after that chaotic first inning. In the third, Williamson doubled again and Vilade scored to make it 4–0. Chicago answered in the bottom of the third when Pereira hit a three-run home run, cutting the lead to 4–3. That blast was loud and changed the feel of the game for both teams.
Late innings and game finish
Tampa Bay rebuilt a lead in the sixth and seventh innings with timely hitting. In the sixth, Fortes reached on an infield single and Williamson scored, then Díaz singled to bring in Fortes and push the lead to 6–3. The top of the seventh saw Williamson double and Vilade score, then DeLuca doubled to bring Williamson home for an 8–3 lead. Chicago made it 8–5 in the ninth when Murakami homered, but the rally came too late. The final outs ended the game with Tampa Bay winning 8–5, improving their record to 8-7 while Chicago fell to 6-10.
