Rangers Dominate at Coors Field With Early Explosion
The Texas Rangers traveled to Colorado on Wednesday night, May 20, ready to bounce back after losing a close game the night before. That Tuesday game went down to the wire, with the Rockies edging out the Rangers 7-6. Now Texas wanted to show their strength at Coors Field, one of baseball's toughest places to pitch. The Colorado Rockies, struggling with a losing record, hoped to find their rhythm at home. When the Rangers took the field with Tyler Alexander on the mound, nobody expected what would happen next. Texas came out swinging from the very first inning, and the Rockies simply could not keep up. By game's end, the Rangers had dominated completely, winning 10-0 in a performance that showcased Texas's offensive power and resilience.
Rangers' Bats Light Up Early Innings
The Rangers' offense exploded right from the start, scoring two runs in the very first inning. Duran doubled to right field, a hard-hit ball that traveled 363 feet with an exit velocity of 95 mph. McCutchen and Nimmo both scored on that double, giving Texas an immediate 2-0 lead. Colorado's pitcher Sammy Peralta was in trouble early. In the second inning, the Rangers kept piling on. Nimmo singled to right, and Pederson scored to make it 3-0. Then Duran singled again to left, and Nimmo scored. Burger followed with another single to right, driving in Jung. Just like that, the Rangers had jumped ahead 5-0 before the third inning even started. The Rockies' defense looked helpless as Texas kept finding gaps and hitting hard.
Rangers Push Lead to Victory With Consistent Offense
After leading 5-0 going into the fourth inning, the Rangers were far from finished. Nimmo stepped up and crushed a home run to center field—a massive 425-foot blast that soared high into the Colorado sky. With that two-run homer, Texas extended their lead to 7-0. The Rockies had no answer for the Rangers' hot bats. In the fifth inning, Foscue hit a sacrifice fly to center, driving in Carter and making it 8-0. Later, Pederson singled to left in the seventh, scoring Jansen to push the lead to 9-0. In the eighth inning, Duran doubled to left, and Haggerty scored on the play. That made the final score 10-0, a shutout victory that showed Texas's complete control. The Rangers improved to 24-25, while Colorado fell to 19-31 with the loss.
