Rangers Strike Fast Behind Seager's Bomb
The Rangers came into Kauffman Stadium riding hot. They'd just beaten Kansas City 6-4 the night before and wanted to keep the fire alive. Texas sent Kumar Rocker to the mound against Kansas City's Michael Wacha. Right away, the Rangers' bats woke up. Brandon Nimmo doubled down the right field line in the first inning, and Corey Seager raced home. Then in the second, Elias Diaz bunted for a single, and Ezequiel Duran scored to make it 2-0. But Seager wasn't done yet. In the third inning, he crushed a fastball 391 feet over the right field wall. The ball rocketed into the seats and the Rangers led 3-0. Texas was swinging like they owned the place.
Royals Cut Into Lead With Two Quick Runs
Kansas City wasn't going to roll over. In the fourth inning, the Royals finally got something going against Rocker. Michael Massey grounded into a double play, but Vinnie Pasquantino scored from third on the play. The Royals kept pushing. Kameron Misner lined a single to right field, and Jac Caglianone raced home from third. Suddenly it was 3-2. Texas still led, but you could feel Kansas City waking up. The Rangers' pitching staff had kept the Royals quiet early, but now things were getting interesting. Would Texas hold on, or would the Royals find a way to tie it up and take over?
Rangers Add One More in the Sixth
The Rangers weren't finished scoring. In the sixth inning, Texas got another chance. Evan Carter stepped up and ripped a single to right field. That single pushed Ezequiel Duran across the plate. Now it was 4-2 Texas. The Rangers had found just enough offense to hold off the Royals' comeback. Wacha and the Kansas City pitching staff had worked hard, but they couldn't shut down Texas' hitting. When the final out came, Texas had the win. The Rangers improved to 34-34 with their second straight victory. Kansas City fell to 28-40, still searching for answers on both sides of the field.
