Rangers Strike Early with Duran's Blast
The Texas Rangers came to Miami on a mission. They'd just won their last game and wanted to keep the streak alive. The Marlins hosted them at loanDepot Park looking to protect their home turf. Miami had won four straight games heading in. Texas scored first with a huge moment in the fourth inning. Ezequiel Duran stepped up to face Tyler Phillips and crushed a 93-mile-per-hour sinker 407 feet to center field. The ball exploded off his bat and sailed over the fence. Brandon Nimmo raced home from second base. The Rangers led 2-0, and the crowd went silent. Duran's two-run blast put Texas in control early. Corey Seager wasn't playing due to a concussion, but his teammates were ready to win without him.
Miami Fights Back, Game Stays Close
Miami couldn't let Texas run away with this game. The Marlins got their chance in the fifth inning. Kumar Rocker threw a wild pitch that let Owen Caissie race to third base. Then Javier Sanoja stepped up and put the ball in play. He hit a sacrifice fly to center field, and Caissie tagged up and sprinted home. Miami cut the lead to 2-1. The Marlins kept pushing. In the sixth inning, Xavier Edwards smacked a triple to left field. Otto Lopez scored on the play, tying the game at 2-2. The crowd came alive. Texas and Miami were locked in a tight battle now. Neither team could pull away. Rocker was sharp for Texas, striking out nine batters through five innings. The game was anybody's to win going forward.
Rangers Grab Late Win in Eighth Inning
The game came down to the eighth inning. Texas needed one more big moment, and they got it. Alejandro Osuna stepped up against relief pitcher Calvin Faucher. Osuna ripped a double to right field. Brandon Nimmo raced home, and the Rangers led 3-2. The score shifted again when Jake Burger advanced to third on the hit. Elias Diaz followed with another sacrifice fly to right. Burger tagged up and scored, making it 4-2 Texas. Miami answered back in the bottom of the eighth. Kyle Stowers doubled to right, and Joe Mack came home to cut it to 4-3. That was as close as Miami could get. Jacob Latz came in and shut the door for Texas. The Rangers held on for a 4-3 victory. Texas improved to 38-40. Miami fell to 40-39. It was a wild game between two hungry teams.
