Rangers Strike First, But Marlins Own the Night
The Texas Rangers came into Miami down 2 games in a row. They needed to bounce back after losing 4-6 the night before. The Marlins were hot, winning their last two games at home. You could feel the energy at the ballpark. Both teams wanted this one badly. In the fourth inning, Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford stepped up against Marlins starter Eury Perez. Langford swung hard and connected. The ball rocketed off his bat toward center field, climbing higher and higher. It sailed 437 feet into the night sky and over the wall. The Rangers had the lead, 1-0. Langford's power was on full display. But Miami answered right back in their half of the fourth. The Marlins weren't going down without a fight.
Marlins Rally, Otto Lopez Crushes the Deciding Blow
Miami tied the game in the fourth when Griffin Conine crushed a double to right field. Otto Lopez raced home from second base. The score was locked 1-1. Then in the fifth inning, Xavier Edwards singled to right. Caissie scored from third. Miami took the lead 2-1. The Rangers couldn't catch up. Things stayed tight through the middle innings. You could feel the tension building. Then the eighth inning came. Cole Winn took the mound for Texas. Otto Lopez stepped into the box. The pitch came in—an 85 mph slider. Lopez swung with perfect timing. The ball exploded off his bat toward left-center. It sailed 427 feet over the wall into the Miami night. Navarreto scored too. Miami led 4-1. That home run felt like the moment that changed everything.
Rangers Score Late, But Miami Holds On for the Win
Texas didn't quit. In the ninth inning, Joc Pederson stepped up to face Miami closer Pete Fairbanks. The first pitch came in at 88 mph—a cutter. Pederson waited. He saw the next pitch and connected. The ball sailed toward center field, climbing fast. It traveled 426 feet over the wall for a solo home run. Texas pulled closer at 4-2. But Miami had done enough. Pete Fairbanks got the save. The final score read Miami 4, Texas 2. The Marlins improved to 42-39 and stayed hot at home. Texas fell to 38-42, their record dropping as they struggled on the road. Jacob deGrom threw six innings for the Rangers but took the loss. Eury Perez picked up the win for Miami. You could see the difference between these two teams tonight.
