Baltimore Crushes Toronto in a Wild Second Inning
The Blue Jays came to Camden Yards looking to bounce back. They'd lost the night before 6-5 after a ninth-inning collapse. Toronto was desperate to find their rhythm. But Baltimore had other plans. Starter Kyle Bradish took the mound for the Orioles, ready to shut down Toronto's lineup. Spencer Miles pitched for the visitors. The game stayed tied until the second inning exploded. That's when the Orioles woke up. Colton Cowser smashed a 424-foot home run that scored two more runs. Before Toronto could catch their breath, Pete Alonso singled and Samuel Basallo doubled. Suddenly the scoreboard read 6-0 Baltimore. One inning. Five runs. The Orioles had taken total control of the game before Toronto even got comfortable in the batter's box.
Juenger's Wild Sixth Inning Gives Baltimore Nine Runs
Things got worse for Toronto in the sixth inning. Hayden Juenger came in from the bullpen for the Blue Jays. The Orioles smelled blood in the water. Taylor Ward grounded into a force play, but Colton Cowser scored on a throwing error. Then Gunnar Henderson ripped a double to center that brought home another run. Ward sprinted to third. Adley Rutschman stepped up and lifted a sacrifice fly to center field. Ward crossed home. Baltimore had extended their lead to 9-0. Kyle Bradish was pitching lights out for Baltimore, holding Toronto to just four hits through seven innings. The Orioles' bats kept pounding. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays looked completely lost at the plate.
Blue Jays Spark Late, But Baltimore Holds on for the Win
Toronto finally woke up in the seventh inning. Charles McAdoo grounded into a fielder's choice and Ernie Clement scored on a throwing error by Baltimore's Jackson Holliday. One run. It wasn't much, but it was something. Then in the eighth inning, the bats came alive. Clement doubled down the left field line. Yohendrick Pinango launched a 421-foot bomb to right field that scored three runs and gave Toronto five total. The Blue Jays had momentum building. The crowd at Camden Yards went quiet. But it was too late. Kyle Bradish had already done his damage. The Orioles held strong, and Baltimore claimed a 9-5 victory. Toronto fell to 29-31. Baltimore improved to 28-32 and won their second straight game.
