The bottom half of the Week 14 NBA Power Rankings is where seasons are starting to splinter. Some teams are deep into rebuild mode, others are stuck between development and desperation, and a few are simply trying to survive injuries and inconsistency.
30. New Orleans Pelicans (10-35)
The Pelicans sit at the bottom at #15 in the Western Conference. They lost at home to Houston 119-110 in their latest game. Jabari Smith Jr. scored 32 points against them. Trey Murphy III provides offense for New Orleans, but the team struggles on defense. The wins just aren't coming together for the Pelicans.
29. Indiana Pacers (10-33)
Indiana is #15 in the Eastern Conference after a rough stretch. The Pacers lost big to Detroit, scoring just 78 points while giving up 121. Without Haliburton, their offense has disappeared. The 43-point loss was their worst defeat of 2026. The team needs their star guard back to get things going again.
28. Washington Wizards (10-31)
The Wizards are #14 in the East and have lost a lot of games. They fell 121-115 to Denver despite Tim Hardaway Jr. scoring 30 points. Jamal Murray dropped 42 points on Washington's weak defense. The team is focused on developing young players Sarr and Coulibaly. These growing pains are tough, but they're building for the future.
27. Sacramento Kings (12-31)
Sacramento sits at #14 in the Western Conference standings. The Kings had won a few games before losing 117-110 to Portland. DeRozan and Sabonis now back from injury make a strong scoring duo. The Kings have been playing much better lately, maybe even showing play-in potential.
26. Brooklyn Nets (12-28)
Brooklyn is #13 in the East and still rebuilding. The Nets got crushed by Chicago 124-102 in a blowout. Their young players show promise but can't play well every night. The defense needs major improvement. The Nets are searching for their identity as they develop their core.
25. Utah Jazz (14-28)
The Jazz are #13 in the West and going through growing pains. Utah lost 120-138 to Dallas in their latest defeat. Markkanen leads the team as their veteran anchor. The young roster flashes talent but struggles against playoff teams. The Jazz are building for tomorrow while learning hard lessons today.
24. Charlotte Hornets (16-27)
Charlotte is #12 in the Eastern Conference with an exciting young team. The Hornets crushed Denver 110-87 in a defensive masterpiece. LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller lead the young core. They held Denver to just 87 points! When Charlotte plays tough defense, they can beat anyone. The challenge is playing that way every game.
23. Dallas Mavericks (17-26)
The Mavericks are #12 in the West and heating up. Dallas dropped 138 points on Utah in their recent offensive explosion. Cooper Flagg is playing incredibly well. The 19-year old rookie is one of the best to come in the league in recent years and looks like a star already.
22. Milwaukee Bucks (17-24)
Milwaukee is #11 in the East but sliding fast. The Bucks lost by 18 points at home to San Antonio. Their defense has collapsed over recent games. Giannis Antetokounmpo still plays amazing basketball, but the team has bigger problems. The Bucks need to figure things out quickly to save their season.
21. Memphis Grizzlies (18-23)
Memphis sits at #10 in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies dominated Orlando 126-109 in impressive fashion. Ja Morant dished out 13 assists while Jaren Jackson Jr. played great on both ends. The supporting cast is stepping up alongside the stars. Memphis could become a real threat.
20. LA Clippers (18-23)
The Clippers are #11 in the West and playing championship basketball. They beat Toronto 121-117 in overtime behind Jamal Shead's 13 assists. Kawhi Leonard provides elite scoring while role players step up in big moments. The overtime win showed their toughness under pressure. LA looks ready for the playoffs if they can rebound from their early season troubles.
19. Atlanta Hawks (20-24)
Atlanta is #10 in the East but struggling badly. The Hawks lost again, falling 132-106 to Boston. Giving up 130 points has become normal for Atlanta's broken defense. Jalen Johnson scores well, but the defense can't stop anyone. The Hawks need major changes to save their playoff hopes.
18. Chicago Bulls (20-22)
Chicago is #9 in the Eastern Conference but stuck in the middle. The Bulls crushed Brooklyn 124-102 in their latest win. Vučević anchors the offense with steady scoring. But the team can't string wins together consistently. The Bulls need to decide if they're pushing for playoffs or developing young players.
17. Portland Trail Blazers (22-22)
Portland is #9 in the West with a surprising young squad. The Trail Blazers beat Sacramento 117-110 for their third straight win. Avdija, Clingan, and Sharpe are building great chemistry together. The young core plays fast and scores in bunches. Portland's rebuild is happening faster than anyone expected!
16. Miami Heat (22-20)
The Heat are #8 in the East and heating up again. Miami upset conference-leading Oklahoma City 122-120 in a thriller. Bam Adebayo exploded for 30 points in crunch time. After losing more games than expected, Miami has beat the reigning champions. The Heat's championship DNA is showing up when it matters most.
