15. Philadelphia 76ers (34-29)
The 76ers sit at number 8 in the Eastern Conference. They had a tough week with mixed results. Tyrese Maxey scored 25 points to beat Utah 106-102 after trailing into the fourth quarter. Jabari Walker grabbed a double-double in that win. But Philadelphia lost to Atlanta 125-116 while playing shorthanded. The team is fighting to stay in playoff position.
14. Miami Heat (36-29)
Miami is number 7 in the Eastern Conference and riding some momentum. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro powered a 121-110 win over Detroit on Sunday. They also survived Charlotte 128-120 behind Herro's big scoring night. The Heat won three straight games this week. They're trying to climb out of the Play-In spots and into safer playoff ground.
13. Orlando Magic (35-28)
The Magic are number 6 in the Eastern Conference after a strong week. Paolo Banchero crushed Minnesota with 25 points and 15 rebounds while Desmond Bane added 30 points in a 119-92 road victory. Orlando then dominated Milwaukee 130-91 with balanced scoring and tough defense. Jalen Suggs shined on defense in that blowout. The Magic have won three straight games.
12. Toronto Raptors (36-27)
Toronto is number 5 in the Eastern Conference and finding their rhythm. RJ Barrett exploded for 31 points while Scottie Barnes added 17 in a 122-92 crushing of Dallas on Sunday. That was their second straight win. The Raptors had lost to Minnesota earlier in the week 115-107 when Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves. Toronto is trying to build momentum heading into the playoffs.
11. Phoenix Suns (37-27)
The Suns are number 7 in the Western Conference. Phoenix beat Charlotte 111-99 on Sunday night. Devin Booker scored 32 points to help the Suns survive New Orleans 118-116 in a nail-biting finish on Friday. Phoenix keeps winning close games. Their offense is powerful but they struggle to blow teams out. The Suns need more consistent defense.
10. Cleveland Cavaliers (39-25)
Cleveland sits at number 4 in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers lost to Boston 109-98 on Sunday. Derrick White scored 22 points and Jaylen Brown added 30 for the Celtics in that defeat. Earlier, Cleveland beat Detroit 113-109 behind strong play from Jaylon Tyson and Dennis Schroder. The Cavaliers are still a strong playoff team.
9. Los Angeles Lakers (39-25)
The Lakers are number 5 in the Western Conference. Luka Doncic dropped 44 points to beat Indiana 128-117 on Friday night. Los Angeles then rolled past the Knicks 110-97 on Sunday with strong team play. The Lakers are winning games but need to stay consistent. When they play hard on defense, they're tough to beat.
8. Denver Nuggets (39-25)
Denver is number 6 in the Western Conference and struggling lately. The Knicks destroyed them 142-103 on Friday. OG Anunoby scored 34 points in that blowout loss. Before that, Nikola Jokic had a triple-double with 28 points to beat the Lakers 120-113. Jamal Murray also scored 28 in that win. Denver needs better defense and consistency.
7. Houston Rockets (39-24)
Houston is number 4 in the Western Conference. The Rockets lost big to San Antonio 145-120 on Sunday. But they beat Portland 106-99 on Friday for their fourth straight win. Alperen Sengun scored 28 points and Amen Thompson added 26 in that victory. Houston is learning how to win close games and building playoff confidence.
6. Minnesota Timberwolves (40-24)
Minnesota is number 3 in the Western Conference. The Timberwolves lost badly to Orlando 119-92 on Saturday. Paolo Banchero dominated them with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Minnesota bounced back earlier by beating Toronto 115-107 behind Anthony Edwards. The Timberwolves are still finding their identity this season.
5. New York Knicks (41-24)
The Knicks are number 3 in the Eastern Conference. They lost to the Lakers 110-97 on Sunday. But before that, New York destroyed Denver 142-103 in an amazing performance. OG Anunoby scored 34 points in that blowout. The Knicks showed incredible balance on offense and shut down Nikola Jokic. They're a serious championship threat.
4. Boston Celtics (43-21)
Boston is number 2 in the Eastern Conference and rolling. The Celtics beat Cleveland 109-98 on Sunday without Jayson Tatum. Derrick White scored 22 points and Jaylen Brown added 30 in that win. Boston also crushed Dallas 120-100 on Friday. The Celtics have won four straight games. Their defense is elite right now.
3. Detroit Pistons (45-18)
Detroit is number 1 in the Eastern Conference! The Pistons lost three straight games this week. Miami beat them 121-110 despite strong play from Cade Cunningham. Brooklyn also edged them 107-105 in a close Saturday battle. Michael Porter Jr. and Ziaire Williams made clutch plays for Brooklyn. Detroit is still a top team.
2. San Antonio Spurs (47-17)
San Antonio is number 2 in the Western Conference and heating up. The Spurs destroyed Houston 145-120 on Sunday. Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox led the way. San Antonio also beat the Clippers 116-112 behind Wembanyama's all-around dominance. The Spurs are learning to close games and building championship confidence.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder (50-15)
The defending champions are number 1 in the Western Conference! Oklahoma City beat Golden State 104-97 on Saturday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 27 points in that win. Earlier, the Thunder beat the Knicks 103-100 in a battle of contenders. Chet Holmgren scored 28 points and Gilgeous-Alexander added 26. OKC is rounding into championship form at the perfect time!
