Clippers Search for Answers in San Antonio
The LA Clippers travel to face the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. Both teams have been having strong seasons. The Spurs have been awesome since the beginning while the Clippers have completely turned their season around.
The Spurs Are Growing Up
San Antonio sits at 44-17, second in the Western Conference. They're figuring out how to win close games. Victor Wembanyama stands at the center of everything. The 7'4" giant swats everything that comes his way.
When Wembanyama protects the rim, he looks like a skyscraper with arms reaching everywhere. Shooters change their minds mid-air when they see him coming. De'Aaron Fox helps run the offense with about 21 points and six assists per game. Together they make the Spurs dangerous on both ends.
Can the Clippers Find Their Rhythm?
LA struggles with consistency this season. They sit at 30-31, fighting for a play-in spot. Darius Garland now leads the offense with his smooth passing and scoring. He’s their point guard of the future. Kawhi Leonard has been excellent too, scoring 20 or more points in almost every game.
Los Angeles recently traded center Ivica Zubac, so stopping Wembanyama will be a huge challenge.
The Matchup to Watch
This game comes down to defense. Can the Clippers slow down Wembanyama? Can the Spurs contain Leonard and Garland? Friday night in San Antonio will answer those questions.
