Celtics Dominate Game 4, Move Closer to Series Win
Boston came into Philadelphia with one mission: close out the series. They did exactly that, crushing the 76ers 128-96 on Sunday to take a commanding 3-1 lead. The game wasn't even close. From the opening tip, Boston's offense was unstoppable, and their defense made it hard for Philadelphia to find any rhythm. By halftime, the Celtics had already built a huge advantage at 56-38. The 76ers never found their way back into the game. When Payton Pritchard knocked down a three-pointer with just seconds left in the first quarter, you could feel the momentum shift entirely toward Boston. The Celtics shot lights out all night, with multiple players stepping up and making their shots. This performance showed why Boston is one of the best teams in the East, even after all the doubts at the season's start about whether they could compete without their superstar healthy.
Pritchard and Tatum Lead the Celtics' Offensive Explosion
Payton Pritchard had the game of his life. The shooting guard poured in 32 points, hitting threes from everywhere on the floor. His accuracy was exceptional, shooting over 57 percent from the field. What made Pritchard even more valuable was his willingness to set up teammates when they had the better look. Jayson Tatum, who made his return from injury, also delivered a superstar performance with 30 points and 11 assists. Tatum's ability to both score and distribute the basketball made him incredibly difficult to defend. When these two got rolling in the second quarter, Philadelphia's defense simply couldn't keep up. Jaylen Brown added 20 points and seven rebounds, giving Boston three weapons that the 76ers had no answer for. The Celtics' balanced attack meant Philadelphia had to choose which player to defend, and no matter what they did, someone else stepped up and scored.
Philadelphia Couldn't Find Its Footing All Night Long
For Philadelphia, this game was a disaster from start to finish. Their stars couldn't get into rhythm, and their defense couldn't stop Boston's hot shooting. Joel Embiid scored 26 points and grabbed ten rebounds, but he never felt completely healthy or in control. Tyrese Maxey added 22 points and six assists, yet the team's overall performance fell flat. The 76ers trailed 34-18 after the first quarter, which meant they were playing catch-up the entire game. By the third quarter, Boston had stretched their lead to 95-74, and the outcome was already decided. Young rookie V.J. Edgecombe struggled, scoring just 6 points on difficult shooting. Paul George tried to spark the offense with 16 points and three steals, but even his defensive effort couldn't make a difference. Philadelphia's bench couldn't match Boston's depth either. The loss puts serious pressure on the 76ers heading into Game 5, where they'll need to find answers fast or risk elimination from the playoffs.
