The Denver Nuggets needed a big bounce-back game. Boy, did they get one.
Denver crushed Portland 157-103 on Friday night. The Nuggets lit up the scoreboard after losing two straight games. They looked like a completely different team.
Jokic and Murray Lead the Attack
Nikola Jokic was unstoppable. The three-time MVP scored 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He looked like a giant among defenders, spinning and passing with ease. Jokic shot an incredible 67 percent from the floor. He also dished out seven assists and swiped four steals.
Jamal Murray bounced back from recent struggles with 25 points. He knocked down half his shots and fired perfect passes. Murray added six rebounds and six assists. The duo only needed 25-29 minutes to do their damage.
Bench Players Step Up Big
With Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson out with injuries, others answered the call. Julian Strawther exploded for 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. He shot over 56 percent from the field. Tim Hardaway Jr. also scored 19 points in just 19 minutes. Cameron Johnson chipped in 15 points with two blocks.
The Nuggets built a huge lead early. They scored 41 points in the first quarter. By halftime, Denver led 82-53. The third quarter was even more brutal. Denver outscored Portland 43-32 to stretch the lead to 125-85.
Portland Struggles Continue
Portland couldn't keep up with Denver's firepower. Jrue Holiday led the Blazers with 19 points. Donovan Clingan added 15 points and nine rebounds. Deni Avdija stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 13 assists, and eight rebounds.
But nothing worked against Denver's hot shooting. The Blazers are still learning and growing as a young team.
Denver improved to 36-21 and climbed back into form. Portland fell to 27-30. The Nuggets showed why they remain dangerous in the Western Conference.
