First Quarter: Spurs Strike Back Against Early Knicks Lead
The Knicks came out swinging like they owned the place. Jalen Brunson fired a three-pointer right away. OG Anunoby kept the heat on with a three and a layupâsuddenly New York was up 8-4. Karl-Anthony Towns added buckets, pushing the lead to 14-7. But wait. Dylan Harper woke up the Spurs. He buried a jump shot, then another, then a three-pointer. The building shook. By the 3:25 mark, Harper flipped the script completely. San Antonio went from down 7 to up 19-14. Julian Champagnie joined the party with back-to-back threes. The Spurs kept rolling. Wembanyama threw down a three himself. Suddenly this looked like a different game. The first quarter belonged to San Antonio's young guns.
Second & Third Quarters: Knicks Claw Back Into the Fight
The second quarter turned into a shooting contest. Both teams traded buckets like they were playing HORSE. Jose Alvarado gave San Antonio some depth scoring. Karl-Anthony Towns kept answering back with layups and put-backs. Jalen Brunson was everywhereâdriving, shooting, making plays. The score kept bouncing back and forth. Julian Champagnie hit another three late in the half. Then Landry Shamet answered with a stepback. De'Aaron Fox threw down a monster dunk right before halftime to give San Antonio a 55-48 lead. In the third quarter, the Knicks tightened their defense. Towns and Brunson got rolling again. Mikal Bridges scored. The game tied at 71-71 with two minutes left in the quarter. Victor Wembanyama dunked to put San Antonio back ahead, 76-71.
