Spurs Roll Past Suns in Blowout Win
The San Antonio Spurs crushed the Phoenix Suns 121-94 on Thursday night. The Spurs looked unstoppable from start to finish. Their young stars showed why San Antonio sits second in the Western Conference.
Booker Goes Down Early
Phoenix's night went bad in a hurry. Star guard Devin Booker left in the second quarter and never returned. He played just nine minutes before heading to the locker room. Without their leader, the Suns struggled to score. Booker managed only five points before exiting.
Wembanyama Swats Everything Away
Victor Wembanyama stood tall like a skyscraper in the paint. The 7'4" superstar blocked five shots and grabbed 11 rebounds. He scored 17 points while making life miserable for Phoenix. Every time the Suns drove to the basket, Wembanyama's long arms reached up to reject their shots. He added four assists to help his teammates score easy baskets.
Castle Leads the Charge
Stephon Castle put on a show with 20 points on red-hot shooting. The Rookie of the Year from last season made eight of his 11 shots. He swiped three steals on defense and dished out four assists. Castle's speed and skill helped the Spurs pull away.
De'Aaron Fox ran the offense like a maestro. He handed out eight assists while scoring 15 points. Dylan Harper added 17 points off the bench. Devin Vassell chipped in 12 points as five Spurs scored in double figures.
Green Fights Alone
Jalen Green tried his best for Phoenix. He poured in 26 points and grabbed three steals. But his teammates couldn't help enough. Mark Williams grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 11 points. Jordan Goodwin added 10 points in Booker's place.
The Spurs led by five after one quarter. They stretched it to 12 at halftime. By the end of three quarters, San Antonio was up by 27. The game was already over.
San Antonio's balanced attack and lockdown defense proved too much for the injured Suns.
