The Charlotte Hornets came roaring back Saturday night to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 111-106. After falling behind early, the home team turned up the heat and never looked back.
Spurs Start Strong
San Antonio jumped out to a fast start. The Spurs led 30-26 after the first quarter. Dylan Harper looked unstoppable, knocking down shots with ease. He finished with 20 points on blazing 69 percent shooting. Victor Wembanyama grabbed rebounds with his long arms stretched high. The towering big man scored 16 points and pulled down 8 boards. Stephon Castle ran the offense smoothly, dishing out 9 assists while adding 16 points.
Charlotte's Big Comeback
The Hornets exploded in the second quarter. They outscored San Antonio 35-17 to grab a 61-47 halftime lead. Brandon Miller became a scoring machine. The young forward attacked the basket and fired up jumpers. His sneakers squeaked on the court as he cut through defenders. Miller finished with a game-high 26 points and 8 rebounds.
Collin Sexton came off the bench on fire. He made nearly every shot he took, scoring 21 points in just 18 minutes. His hot hand kept the Spurs at bay.
LaMelo Ball controlled the game like a conductor leading an orchestra. The star point guard recorded 16 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds. He whipped passes across the court that seemed to have eyes.
Down the Stretch
Charlotte maintained their lead through the third and fourth quarters. Kon Knueppel provided steady support with 13 points. Miles Bridges added 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. His muscles flexed as he fought for position in the paint.
The Spurs tried to rally late. Devin Vassell and Julian Champagnie each scored 13 points. But Charlotte's balanced attack proved too much.
The Hornets improved their home record while the Spurs fell to 32-17 overall.
