Wembanyama Unstoppable in Spurs Blowout
Victor Wembanyama put on a show Tuesday night. The Spurs crushed the Lakers 136-108 in Los Angeles. San Antonio improved to 37-16 and second place in the Western Conference.
Wembanyama Takes Over
Wembanyama looked like a superhero in just 26 minutes. The 7-foot-4 center scored 40 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. He hit 65 percent of his shots. His long arms seemed to reach everywhere at once.
The young star dominated from the opening tip. He scored inside with powerful dunks. He stepped outside and drained jump shots. Defenders bounced off him like he was made of steel.
Dylan Harper ran the floor beautifully alongside Wembanyama. The rookie guard scored 15 points and dished out six assists. He shot 75 percent from the field. Harper's smart passes found teammates in perfect scoring positions.
Supporting Cast Shines
Carter Bryant added 16 points for San Antonio. Harrison Barnes contributed 11 points and three steals. Devin Vassell stayed hot with nine points on 80 percent shooting.
The Spurs jumped ahead early and never looked back. They led 47-30 after the first quarter. By halftime, San Antonio was up 84-55. The game felt like watching a runaway train.
Lakers Missing Key Players
Los Angeles played without several stars. LeBron James sat out for rest. Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic also missed the game. Marcus Smart stayed on the bench too.
Luke Kennard led the Lakers with 14 points. Drew Timme and Jaxson Hayes each scored 14 points. Bronny James added 12 points and six assists. But without their top players, Los Angeles couldn't match San Antonio's firepower.
Building Momentum
The Spurs are learning to win the games they should win. After recent tough losses, they're executing better. Wembanyama continues proving he's the franchise centerpiece. San Antonio visits Golden State next on Wednesday night.
