Hawks Soar Past Wizards in Dominant Performance
The Atlanta Hawks crushed the Washington Wizards 126-96 on Thursday night. Atlanta found its scoring touch in a big way. The Hawks built a huge lead early and never looked back.
Kispert Lights Up the Court
Corey Kispert put on a show for the home crowd. The sharpshooter splashed in 33 points on red-hot shooting. He knocked down shots from everywhere on the floor. Kispert looked like a video game character the way the ball kept finding the net. His smooth release and quick feet kept Washington's defenders spinning in circles.
CJ McCollum added 25 points for Atlanta. The veteran guard sliced through the defense with crafty moves. Jonathan Kuminga grabbed nine rebounds and scored 17 points. His long arms and athletic leaps helped control the paint.
Daniels Runs the Show
Dyson Daniels showed why he won the Most Improved Player award. He dished out 11 assists while directing Atlanta's offense like a coach on the court. Daniels also swiped five steals with his quick hands. He added 13 points too. Onyeka Okongwu controlled the middle with 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Wizards Battle Without Stars
Washington played without injured star Trae Young. The point guard sat out with a knee injury. Alexandre Sarr also missed the game with a hamstring problem. The Wizards felt their absence all night long.
Will Riley led Washington with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tre Johnson also scored 14 points in 20 minutes. Justin Champagnie and Jaden Hardy each added 14 points. But it wasn't nearly enough against Atlanta's balanced attack.
Hawks Build Big Lead
Atlanta jumped ahead 37-26 after one quarter. By halftime, the Hawks led 76-56. The home team kept pouring it on in the second half. Washington couldn't find answers on defense or offense.
The win improved Atlanta's record while Washington continued struggling on the road.
