Rookie Report: Fresh Faces Taking Over
The newest stars in the NBA are making noise. From coast to coast, rookies are proving they belong. Let's check out who's playing their best basketball.
Kon Knueppel Catches Fire
Charlotte's fourth overall pick is heating up. Knueppel came out of Duke as a crafty scorer. His shooting stroke looks like butter. Against Golden State, he knocked down 80 percent of his three-pointers. He grabbed 11 rebounds too. That's a huge night for the young gun. Then against Denver, he hit half his shots from deep again. Knueppel knows how to move without the ball. He finds the perfect spots on the floor. When he catches and shoots, it looks easy. He's averaging about 19 points per game this season.
Ace Bailey Shows His Length
Utah grabbed Bailey with the fifth pick. At 6'8, he can do it all. Bailey rises over defenders like a rocket taking off. Against Dallas, he scored 18 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. His long arms help him snatch balls out of the air. When he jumps, he floats above everyone else. Utah sees him as their future star.
Big Men Making Moves
Derik Queen plays with incredible footwork for New Orleans. At 6'9, he handles the ball like a guard. Defenders can't guess his next move. Against Indiana, he grabbed 12 rebounds and scored 14 points. Then against Houston, he added 15 points and 5 assists. His soft touch around the basket is beautiful to watch.
Collin Murray-Boyles brings pure hustle for Toronto. The ninth overall pick does the dirty work. Against the Lakers, he blocked 3 shots and scored 11 points. He dives for loose balls and crashes the boards.
Point Guard Promise
Jeremiah Fears runs the show for New Orleans. The seventh pick has lightning-fast speed. His handles are the best in his draft class. Against Indiana, he put up 16 points and 5 assists. Learning the point guard spot takes time. But Fears is getting better every game.
These rookies are writing their own stories. The future of basketball looks bright.
