Deni Avdija Takes Home Player of the Week!
The NBA just named Deni Avdija the Western Conference Player of the Week for Week 11! The Portland Trail Blazers star had an amazing week. He proved once again why he's become Portland's go-to player.
A Star is Born in Portland
Avdija arrived in Portland from Washington last season. Since then, he's completely transformed into a star. At 6'9, he plays like a point-forward. That means he handles the ball like a guard but towers over defenders like a forward.
This season, Avdija is lighting up the scoreboard. He's averaging about 26 points per game. He's also dishing out around 7 assists per game. Plus, he grabs about 7 rebounds every night. He does everything for Portland.
How Avdija Dominates
Watch Avdija attack the rim and you'll see something special. He dribbles past defenders with quick moves. His long strides eat up the court. When he rises up for a layup, defenders can't keep up.
Avdija doesn't just score close to the basket. He can step back and drain three-pointers too. He's shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc this season. When the defense closes in, he finds open teammates with pinpoint passes.
His shooting from the field is rock solid at 47 percent. That means nearly half his shots go in. When your best player shoots that well, good things happen.
Leading a Young Team
Avdija has changed Portland's entire direction. He organizes the young roster like a coach on the court. He knows when to score and when to share. He anchors the offense and makes everyone better.
This Player of the Week award shows what Avdija can do. Week 11 was his time to shine, and he delivered. Portland fans love watching him work his magic every game.
Congratulations to Deni Avdija on an incredible week! This award is well deserved for Portland's superstar point-forward.
