The Saints arrived at MetLife Stadium with a 1-4 record and a powerful need to turn promising drives into a win. Tyler Shough answered that call with three touchdown passes and a rushing score as New Orleans built a huge lead, then held on through a wild Giants rally for a 34-27 victory.

New York, 3-1-1 entering the game, had just fought back from 14 points down in Washington the week before. The Giants showed that same refusal to quit again. But four turnovers and five sacks kept turning their comeback story into an uphill climb.

Jameis Winston started sharply after New Orleans pinned the Giants deep in their own territory. He hit Isaiah Likely for a 24-yard gain, and Tyrone Tracy Jr. finished the drive with a 17-yard touchdown catch. The Giants led 7-0. New Orleans moved the ball but missed a 55-yard field goal, while the Giants added a 34-yard kick for a 10-0 lead.

Then special teams flipped the first half. A Saints linebacker forced Charlie Jones to lose the ball on a kickoff, giving New Orleans possession at the Giants’ 28. Shough raced 25 yards to the 3-yard line, and with one second left before halftime, he found Bryce Lance for a 2-yard touchdown. The score was tied 10-10, and the Saints had found their spark.

They never slowed after halftime. Shough guided an opening drive capped by a 31-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Kamara, who slipped into open space down the right side. New Orleans then leaned on Kendre Miller’s tough runs to march inside the 1. After a replay erased a touchdown, Shough powered across himself to make it 24-10.

The Saints’ defense made the lead even sturdier. Cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. intercepted Winston twice, while Chase Young and Carl Granderson combined for three sacks. Daniel Carlson’s 51-yard field goal pushed New Orleans ahead 27-10 late in the third quarter. When safety Julian Blackmon intercepted another Giants pass early in the fourth, Shough made New York pay right away. He connected with Chris Olave for an 18-yard touchdown and a 34-10 lead.

The Giants still charged back. J.J. McCarthy took over at quarterback and fired a 27-yard pass to Malik Nabers before Tracy scored from 5 yards out. McCarthy later hit Likely for a 24-yard touchdown, then guided New York into range for a 41-yard field goal with 2:04 left. Nabers caught 12 passes for 165 yards, repeatedly giving the Giants a path forward.

But New Orleans controlled the final minutes with Miller runs and a punt that left New York only seconds for one final drive. McCarthy reached the Saints’ 14, but his last pass fell incomplete.

The Saints improved to 2-4 by protecting the ball and finishing scoring chances, even while gaining 319 yards to the Giants’ 461. They next face the Steelers with proof that Shough’s young offense can close a game. The Giants fell to 3-2-1 and head to Houston knowing their late fight remains real, but cleaner football must carry it to the finish.
