Case Keenum stepped into Chicago’s lineup with Caleb Williams unavailable, and the veteran quarterback gave the Bears exactly what they needed: calm throws, long drives and a huge home win. Chicago controlled the ball for 36:53, protected every possession and knocked the previously unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles down 27-7 on Monday night.

The Bears entered at 1-1 after a tough 9-3 loss to Minnesota, needing to prove their division-winning season was not built around just one player. Philadelphia came in 2-0 after a last-second escape in Tennessee, but Chicago quickly showed this would not be another Eagles comeback story.

Keenum led a sharp opening march with short passes to Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland and Kalif Raymond. D’Andre Swift added tough runs, and Burden finished the drive by catching an 8-yard touchdown pass. Cairo Santos’ extra point put Chicago ahead 7-0.

The Bears defense then delivered the first giant swing. Philadelphia running back Tank Bigsby caught a short pass, but a Bears safety forced a fumble and recovered it at the Eagles’ 15-yard line. Chicago could not turn that chance into more points, yet the takeaway set the tone: the Bears were faster to the ball and ready for every mistake.

Philadelphia finally reached the Chicago goal line late in the first half, but a Bears safety intercepted backup quarterback Andy Dalton in the end zone. Keenum answered with passes of 25 yards to Burden and 22 yards to Rome Odunze, moving Chicago deep into Eagles territory. Santos made a 29-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead.

Jalen Hurts gave Philadelphia life before halftime. He hit DeVonta Smith for 30 yards, then found him again at the 1. Hurts powered in on the final play of the half, cutting the Bears’ lead to 10-7.

But Chicago owned the second half. Santos drilled a 48-yard field goal, then Keenum guided another patient drive. Raymond caught three passes on the march, including a 41-yard touchdown that turned a one-score game into a 20-7 Bears lead.

Philadelphia needed an answer, but linebacker T.J. Edwards intercepted Hurts late in the third quarter. The Bears then squeezed the game away with their running game. Swift ran 20 times for 84 yards, while Kyle Monangai kept pushing the pile. Keenum even fumbled on a scramble, recovered it himself, and kept the drive alive. After Swift’s runs carried Chicago to the 1, Keenum scored on a quarterback sneak for the final 27-7 margin.

Keenum finished with 247 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Raymond’s 90 receiving yards gave Chicago its big-play spark. The Bears are now 2-1 and head to face the New York Jets with proof that their offense can win in different ways. Philadelphia also falls to 2-1 and must regroup before meeting the Los Angeles Rams. Chicago’s message was clear: when its defense takes the ball and its offense controls the clock, the Bears can make even a powerful opponent look small.
