Parker Washington spent Sunday making the Eagles chase him, and his biggest play gave Jacksonville one last chance. After Philadelphia grabbed a 17-16 lead with eight seconds left, Washington returned the kickoff 53 yards into Eagles territory. Cam Little then drilled a 57-yard field goal as time ran out, lifting the Jaguars over Philadelphia 19-17.

The finish pushed Jacksonville from 3-1 to 4-1 and gave last season’s surprise AFC South champions another proof-of-belief win. The Eagles, who entered 2-2 hoping to steady their new-look offense, fell to 2-3 after letting a hard-fought game slip away.

Early on, Jacksonville’s defense and Washington gave the home team a spark. Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter sacked Trevor Lawrence twice in the first half, forcing two fumbles that Jacksonville recovered. Those plays stopped promising drives, but Lawrence kept attacking. In the first quarter, he found Washington on a short pass, and Washington burst through open field for a 51-yard touchdown. Jacksonville led 7-0.

Philadelphia answered with patient football. Jalen Hurts leaned on tight end Dallas Goedert, who caught six passes, to move the chains. A defensive pass interference penalty placed the ball near the goal line, and Will Shipley ran in from 2 yards out to tie the game. Then Hurts struck deep. With 5:31 left in the half, he hit wide receiver Darius Cooper for a 62-yard touchdown and a 14-7 Eagles lead.

Jacksonville had a huge chance before halftime, reaching the Philadelphia 1-yard line. But the Eagles held firm, stopping a run and two incomplete passes. That goal-line stand mattered because the Jaguars finished all three red-zone trips, drives inside the 20-yard line, without a touchdown.

Still, Lawrence refused to let the game drift away. In the third quarter, he guided Jacksonville into range for Little’s 34-yard field goal, cutting the score to 14-10. A little later, Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell intercepted a deep pass meant for Brian Thomas Jr. Yet Philadelphia could not turn that stop into points.

The fourth quarter belonged to Jacksonville’s persistence. Lawrence marched the Jaguars 63 yards, and tight end Brenton Strange made a 27-yard catch to the 1. Penalties pushed Jacksonville backward, but Washington caught a pass near the goal line to keep the drive alive. The Jaguars still settled for no points, but they got the ball back and struck again. With 3:20 remaining, Lawrence fired a 27-yard touchdown to Washington. Little missed the extra point, leaving Jacksonville ahead 16-14.

Hurts drove Philadelphia into range for Jake Elliott’s 48-yard field goal with eight seconds left. It looked like the Eagles had stolen it. Instead, Washington’s return created Little’s final hero kick.

Washington finished with six catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns, while Lawrence threw for 331 yards. Jacksonville now turns toward Houston, carrying the lesson that even after mistakes, a game is never over. Philadelphia heads to Carolina needing its offense to finish more of its late chances.
