Ravens Roar Back with Commanding 24-0 Victory Over Bengals
The Baltimore Ravens entered Cincinnati's home stadium on Saturday night desperately needing a win to keep their playoff dreams alive. At 6-7 and coming off two straight crushing losses, the Ravens faced a Bengals team that was 4-9 but playing with nothing to lose. What followed was a defensive masterpiece that reminded everyone why Baltimore can never be counted out.
First Quarter: Defense Sets the Tone
Both teams started slowly in a quarter dominated by punts and defensive stops. The Ravens leaned heavily on Derrick Henry early, with the veteran powerhouse grinding out tough yards between the tackles. Henry showed his trademark patience, picking up 4, 5, and 3 yards on consecutive carries to start the game.
The Bengals responded with their own methodical drive. Joe Burrow looked sharp early, finding tight end Mike Gesicki for an 11-yard gain and connecting with superstar receiver Ja'Marr Chase for 18 yards. Chase, who had been inconsistent this season after his record-breaking 2024 campaign, showed flashes of his elite route-running ability.
Neither team could find the end zone in the opening quarter, with both defenses forcing punts and keeping the game scoreless.
Second Quarter: Ravens Strike Twice
The second quarter belonged entirely to Baltimore's opportunistic defense and explosive offense. The turning point came when Marqise Humphrey, a Ravens cornerback, stepped in front of a Joe Burrow pass intended for Chase and returned the interception 21 yards to midfield.
The Ravens capitalized immediately. Keaton Mitchell, the speedy running back returning from injury, burst through the Bengals defense for gains of 8 and 15 yards. His explosive cuts and acceleration reminded fans why he was such an exciting rookie before his injury.
Lamar Jackson then found running back Rasheen Ali on a perfectly executed screen pass that Ali took 30 yards to the house for Baltimore's first touchdown. The Ravens led 7-0 with 4:30 left in the half.
But Jackson wasn't finished. After the Bengals failed to respond, Baltimore got the ball back with just over a minute remaining. Jackson scrambled for 14 yards, then launched a beautiful 32-yard pass to DeAndre Hopkins down the sideline. With 29 seconds left, Jackson rolled left and fired a 28-yard touchdown strike to Zay Flowers in the corner of the end zone.
Flowers, who had struggled with consistency in his sophomore season, made a spectacular catch to give Baltimore a 14-0 halftime lead.
Second Half: Defense Dominates
The third quarter saw Derrick Henry take over completely. The 32-year-old veteran broke free for runs of 29 and 24 yards, bulldozing through Cincinnati's defense with the power and vision that have defined his incredible career. Henry's 53 yards in those two carries alone set up a field goal that extended Baltimore's lead to 17-0.
The fourth quarter delivered the knockout punch. With Cincinnati driving deep into Ravens territory, linebacker Kyle Van Noy made the play of the game. He intercepted a Joe Burrow pass at the 5-yard line and immediately handed the ball to safety Ar'Darius Washington, who raced 84 yards for a touchdown that sealed the victory at 24-0.
Looking Ahead
This dominant victory improves Baltimore to 7-7 and keeps their playoff hopes very much alive. The Ravens showed the complementary football that made them dangerous during their mid-season winning streak, with Derrick Henry rushing for 100 yards and Jackson throwing for 150 yards with two touchdowns.
For Cincinnati, now 4-10, this shutout loss extends their disappointing season. Despite Ja'Marr Chase's 132 receiving yards on 10 catches, the Bengals couldn't generate any scoring opportunities against Baltimore's rejuvenated defense.
The Ravens will look to build on this momentum as they continue their playoff push, while the Bengals will focus on developing young talent for next season.
