Super Bowl Rematch! Eagles vs Chiefs Kicks Off at 4:25 PM
Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes are the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to beat each other in the Super Bowl. In 2023, Mahomes and the Chiefs edged the Eagles in a thrilling finish. Two years later, Hurts flipped the script with a dominant 40-22 win in the 2025 Super Bowl, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for another. Now, the rivalry continues in Week 2, and it may be the biggest game of the season so far.
The Eagles
Philadelphia enters this matchup with confidence after a 24-20 win over the Cowboys in Week 1. Hurts scored on the ground and led his offense with steady play, while Saquon Barkley showed why he is such a dangerous weapon. The Eagles’ defense, ranked among the best in the league, held strong late even after a long lightning delay that disrupted the flow of the game.
The Super Bowl champions look loaded again. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are both healthy and ready to stretch defenses. Barkley’s heavy workload last season raises questions, but his power and speed are still a problem for opponents. With Hurts playing at a high level behind an elite offensive line, the Eagles are built to repeat.
The Chiefs
Kansas City fell short in Week 1, losing 27-21 to the Chargers. Mahomes threw for 258 yards and showed flashes of brilliance, but the offense struggled to finish drives. The absence of suspended receiver Rashee Rice was felt, and the offensive line gave up too much pressure. Isiah Pacheco was held to just 25 rushing yards, and the Chiefs could not control the tempo on the ground.
Still, Mahomes has plenty of firepower. Xavier Worthy, who caught two touchdowns in last year’s Super Bowl, continues to develop into a dangerous target. Marquise Brown brings speed on the outside, and Travis Kelce remains a key red zone option even as he gets older. The Chiefs’ defense kept them close against Los Angeles and will need to slow down Hurts and Barkley to give Mahomes a chance.
The Matchup
This is more than just another early-season game. It is a rematch of the last two Super Bowls, with each quarterback owning one championship. The Eagles want to prove their dominance again, while the Chiefs want revenge after last February’s loss.
With Hurts and Mahomes on the field, every drive will matter. Fans can expect playoff-level intensity at Arrowhead Stadium in what could be the most exciting showdown of Week 2.
