Titans at Giants preview: Winston’s first start will meet Daboll’s return

The Tennessee Titans will visit the New York Giants at 1 p.m. EDT Sunday, Sept. 27, with CBS set to carry the Week 3 matchup from MetLife Stadium. Tennessee will arrive at 0-2 after a 24-20 loss to Philadelphia, while New York will stand at 1-1 following a 28-6 defeat at the Rams.

New York will hand the offense to Jameis Winston, who will make his first start of 2026 after Jaxson Dart was ruled out for the remainder of the regular season with a knee injury. Winston completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and an interception in relief against Los Angeles, and coach John Harbaugh said the Giants will build a game plan around Winston’s skill set with 15 games remaining.

The matchup will also bring Brian Daboll back to the stadium where his Giants coaching tenure ended during the 2025 season after a 2-8 start. Now Tennessee’s offensive coordinator, Daboll will guide a unit led by Cam Ward, who has completed 32 of 52 passes for 323 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions through two games; Ward also has rushed for two touchdowns.

Daboll’s return will create familiarity on both sidelines, but the quarterback assignments will furnish the pivotal contrast. Winston will face the Tennessee defense led by coach Robert Saleh, while Ward will encounter a Giants secondary that includes safety Jevon Holland, who has two interceptions; New York yielded 327 passing yards and four touchdown passes to Matthew Stafford in Week 2.

Tennessee will bring a 99-yard rusher in Tony Pollard into the game, though Pollard is listed as questionable with an ankle injury after 21 carries in two contests. The Giants will counter with Cam Skattebo, who has 117 rushing yards and a touchdown on 30 carries, as New York seeks to follow its 28-20 Week 1 win over Dallas with another home victory.

The Giants will carry a 7-6 edge in the all-time series, and they will have won the most recent meeting, 21-20 at Tennessee on Sept. 11, 2022. Sunday will instead center on a changed quarterback room in New York and a former Giants head coach coordinating the Titans’ offense from the opposite sideline.
