Jevon Holland’s Goal-Line Grab Seals Giants’ Gritty Win Over Titans

Jameis Winston’s first start of 2026 did not need a shower of touchdowns. It needed calm hands, a tough running game and one last stand near the goal line. Safety Jevon Holland delivered that final stand, intercepting Cam Ward’s pass with 24 seconds left as the Giants held off Tennessee 12-7 at home.

New York entered at 1-1 after losing quarterback Jaxson Dart for the season, while the Titans arrived 0-2 still hunting for their first win. The Giants gave Winston a huge early gift when Tennessee returner Chimere Dike fumbled the opening kickoff at the Titans’ 37-yard line. Linebacker Malik Harrison recovered it, putting New York in scoring range before either offense had settled in.

The Titans defense bent but did not break. Winston threw a 30-yard pass to Cam Skattebo, and Isaiah Likely added a 10-yard catch, but Tennessee stopped the drive short of the end zone. Kicker Dominic Zvada made a 39-yard field goal for a 3-0 Giants lead.

That became the pattern of a hard-hitting first half. Tennessee’s defense sacked Winston twice and forced punts, while the Giants defense kept Ward from finding room for big plays. New York’s running backs powered a long second-quarter drive, with Najee Harris carrying the ball five times and Skattebo churning toward the goal line. The drive stalled, but Zvada’s 27-yard kick made it 6-0.

Tennessee had one chance before halftime, but Joey Slye missed a 59-yard field goal wide left. Winston then guided the Giants into range with short completions to Malik Nabers and Darnell Mooney. Zvada drilled another 39-yarder as time expired, giving New York a 9-0 halftime lead.

The Giants nearly found the end zone after halftime. Skattebo ran for 13 yards and then seven more to reach the Titans’ 2-yard line. Penalties and a missed pass pushed New York back, however, and the Giants again settled for Zvada. His 30-yard field goal made it 12-0.

Tennessee finally found its spark in the fourth quarter. Tony Pollard, playing through an ankle injury, ran for 74 yards and kept the Titans moving. Ward spread passes to rookie Carnell Tate, Wan’Dale Robinson and tight end Gunnar Helm, then finished the 82-yard march with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Robinson. With 5:35 left, Tennessee was within 12-7.

The Titans got the ball back one final time and raced from their own side of the field to the Giants’ 7. Ward completed seven passes to Robinson, Tate and Pollard during the late push. But on first down near the goal line, Ward tried to find Elic Ayomanor. Holland stepped in front of the pass in the end zone for the game-saving interception.

Winston completed 12 of 22 passes for 118 yards without a turnover, while Skattebo added 60 rushing yards and 40 receiving yards. The Giants improved to 2-1 and showed they can win with defense, patience and Zvada’s perfect four-field-goal day as they prepare for Arizona. Tennessee fell to 0-3, but Ward’s final drive showed the young offense can battle; now the Titans must turn those late chances into wins against Baltimore.
