Vikings Rally Past Browns 21-17 in London!
The Minnesota Vikings played their second game in Europe with championship dreams and a loaded roster, while the Browns hoped their young quarterback Dillon Gabriel and rookie powerhouse Quinshon Judkins could spark their struggling season. What followed was a thrilling back-and-forth battle that showcased both teams' potential.
First Quarter: Browns Strike First
The game started with fireworks as both teams traded punches early. The Browns got the first break when Jordan Mason fumbled at the Minnesota 44-yard line, giving Cleveland excellent field position. Rookie sensation Quinshon Judkins immediately made his presence felt, bursting through the Vikings defense for a spectacular 32-yard run that had Browns fans on their feet.
Judkins continued pounding the rock, methodically moving Cleveland toward the end zone. The drive culminated when rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. hauled in a short touchdown pass from Gabriel, giving the Browns a 7-0 lead.
Minnesota answered right back with their own dose of creativity. After Justin Jefferson worked his magic with a pair of catches to move the Vikings downfield, the team pulled out a trick play that fooled everyone. Running back Cam Akers took a direct snap and fired a perfect 32-yard touchdown pass to tight end Josh Oliver, tying the game at 7-7.
Second Quarter: Field Goal Battle
The second quarter turned into a defensive struggle as both teams tightened up. Gabriel showed poise in the pocket, connecting with veteran Jerry Jeudy and the reliable David Njoku to move the Browns into scoring position. However, the Vikings defense stiffened in the red zone, forcing Cleveland to settle for a 31-yard field goal with 13 seconds left in the half.
At halftime, the Browns held a slim 10-7 advantage, but both teams knew the real battle was just beginning.
Third Quarter: Trading Touchdowns
The Vikings came out of the locker room with renewed energy. Carson Wentz, who had taken over quarterback duties, began finding his rhythm with superstar receiver Justin Jefferson. The dynamic duo connected on a beautiful 21-yard strike, and Jefferson's route-running wizardry left Browns defenders grasping at air.
Jordan Mason capped off the drive by punching in a 3-yard touchdown run, giving Minnesota their first lead at 14-10.
Cleveland refused to fold. Judkins continued his impressive rookie campaign, carrying the ball with power and determination. The second-round pick showcased exactly why the Browns drafted him, grinding out tough yards and keeping drives alive. Gabriel found Njoku in the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown pass, putting the Browns back on top 17-14.
Fourth Quarter: Vikings Complete the Comeback
The final quarter belonged to Minnesota's championship-caliber roster. Wentz displayed veteran leadership, methodically moving the Vikings down the field. Jefferson reminded everyone why he's considered the league's most consistent elite receiver, hauling in crucial catches when his team needed them most.
With time running out, Wentz found his reliable target Jordan Addison for the game-winning 12-yard touchdown with just 30 seconds remaining. Addison's route-running precision and sure hands proved why he's developed into such a trusted weapon in Minnesota's loaded offense.
Looking Ahead
This victory improves Minnesota's record to 3-2, keeping their playoff hopes alive in a competitive NFC. Their balanced attack and elite coaching make them a dangerous team moving forward.
For Cleveland, the loss drops them to 1-4, but there were plenty of positives. Gabriel showed composure for a rookie quarterback, throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Judkins proved he can be the workhorse back they need, rushing for 110 yards on 23 carries.
Both teams will look to build on their performances as they prepare for their next challenges in this exciting NFL season.
