Week 18 Final NFL Power Rankings: The Top 16
With one week left in the regular season, the top half of the league is split between teams already locked into January football and others still fighting to get there. Some are resting stars. Others are treating Week 18 like a playoff game. Here’s how the top 16 stack up heading into the final weekend.
16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9)
Tampa Bay is still mathematically alive but needs help. The Buccaneers fell 20–17 to Miami after allowing a late field goal, despite Baker Mayfield throwing for big yardage. Their margin for error is gone, but they’re still fighting.
15. Carolina Panthers (8-8)
Carolina remains in the wild card mix despite a 27–10 loss to Seattle. Bryce Young flashed toughness and mobility, but turnovers proved costly. An 8-8 record keeps them alive heading into the final week.
14. Baltimore Ravens (8-8)
Baltimore stayed alive by hammering Green Bay 41–24. Derrick Henry’s monster game powered a must-have win, and the Ravens now head into Week 18 still fighting for a wild card spot with momentum on their side.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7)
The Steelers hurt their playoff chances with a 13–6 loss to Cleveland, a game where the offense couldn’t capitalize on defensive stops. They’re still in the hunt, but Week 18 is now a pressure-packed must-win game.
12. Green Bay Packers (9-6-1)
Green Bay has clinched a wild card berth, but the 41–24 loss to Baltimore exposed defensive issues. With a playoff spot secured, Week 18 becomes about tightening things up before January.
11. Los Angeles Rams (11-5)
The Rams have clinched a wild card spot but lost 27–24 to Atlanta after falling behind early. Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua rallied late, but turnovers hurt. They need Davante Adams back from injury so the team can return to full strength.
10. Los Angeles Chargers (11-5)
Los Angeles has clinched a playoff berth despite a 20–16 loss to Houston. They struggled early but tightened up defensively. Week 18 is about momentum and avoiding a skid before the postseason.
9. Buffalo Bills (11-5)
Buffalo has clinched a wild card spot but missed a chance to improve seeding in a 13–12 loss to Philadelphia. Josh Allen nearly pulled it off late but the Eagles stood strong. This team is dangerous and talented, but the margins are thin.
8. Houston Texans (11-5)
Houston has clinched a playoff berth and kept rolling with a gritty 20–16 win over the Chargers. C.J. Stroud delivered early fireworks, and the defense closed late. They look calm and playoff-ready.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars (12-4)
The Jaguars have clinched a playoff spot and extended their win streak to seven with a 23–17 win over Indianapolis. They’re playing clean, confident football and pushing for better seeding. Trevor Lawrence looks better than he ever has.
6. San Francisco 49ers (12-4)
San Francisco has clinched a playoff berth after a dramatic 42–38 comeback win over Chicago. Brock Purdy accounted for five touchdowns in a statement win that screamed playoff toughness. Christian McCaffrey is still one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league and this team is ready to compete.
5. Chicago Bears (11-5)
Chicago has clinched the division despite blowing a late lead to the 49ers. Caleb Williams was electric again, and while the loss stung, the Bears remain firmly in the contender tier. It's been an incredible season for Bears fans and they hope that the best is yet to come.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (11-5)
The Eagles have clinched their division after holding off Buffalo 13–12. Their defense dominated early and barely survived late. The reigning champs don't look as dominant as years past but they've proved that they can compete with anybody.
3. Seattle Seahawks (13-3)
Seattle has clinched the division and the NFC’s top seed. Their 27–10 win over Carolina showed depth and balance. Sam Darnold and Jaxson Smith-Njigba have been incredible all season. Now, Week 18 is about rest and staying healthy.
2. New England Patriots (13-3)
New England has clinched the division and crushed the Jets 42–10. Drake Maye looked nearly flawless as he continued his breakout season. The Patriots are positioning themselves for their first deep playoff run since the Tom Brady days.
1. Denver Broncos (13-3)
Denver has clinched the division and the AFC’s top seed after beating Kansas City 20–13. Bo Nix made clutch plays, and the defense closed strong. Right now, they look like the team everyone else has to go through.
Week 18 will decide seeding, home-field advantage, and which teams enter the playoffs hot or wobbling. Nobody on this list is done yet and after this weekend, the real pressure begins.
