Week 3 NFL Power Rankings: #32 - #17
Week 3 is in the books so let's dive into it!
32. Titans (0-2)
The Titans had a tough time against the Rams. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward was sacked five times, and the offense never got in rhythm. The defense tried to hang in, but they gave up too many big plays to Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams. Tennessee is in a rebuilding year, so fans will need patience as Ward learns. Next week, the focus will be on protecting their young quarterback and finding a way to run the ball.
31. Saints (0-2)
New Orleans kept things close against the 49ers for a while, but mistakes cost them. Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler made a few nice throws, and Alvin Kamara still looked sharp, but they couldn’t finish drives when it mattered. The Saints are clearly still learning under their new coach. Next game, they’ll need Rattler to play with more control and hope their defense can create turnovers to stay competitive.
30. Giants (0-2)
Russell Wilson threw for a huge 450 yards in an overtime loss to the Cowboys, and rookie star Malik Nabers looked unstoppable. But New York’s defense gave up too many big plays, and the team still can’t run the ball well. The Giants have firepower on offense but need balance to win close games. Next week, the goal will be cutting down mistakes and giving Wilson more support.
29. Browns (0-2)
Cleveland was blown out by Baltimore, and veteran Joe Flacco struggled against the Ravens’ strong defense. The Browns had trouble moving the ball, and their young players didn’t step up enough. It’s clear they have talent, but quarterback remains a big question. Looking forward, the Browns must find consistency on offense and give their defense some help, or it will be a long season.
28. Panthers (0-2)
Bryce Young had his best game yet, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns against Arizona. Rookie receiver Tetairoa McMillan also impressed. But Carolina’s defense gave up too many big plays, and they couldn’t finish the comeback. Even in the loss, there were signs of growth. If Young keeps improving and the defense tightens up, the Panthers can be more dangerous going forward.
27. Dolphins (0-2)
Miami looked better on offense against the Patriots, with Tua Tagovailoa finding Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane making plays. But their special teams made big mistakes, including a punt return touchdown allowed, which cost them the game. The Dolphins are still searching for their old explosive form. Next week, they’ll need to play cleaner football to avoid falling further behind.
26. Bears (0-2)
Chicago had no answers for Detroit, giving up 52 points in a blowout. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams made some nice throws to fellow rookie Rome Odunze, but the defense was overmatched. It’s clear the Bears are still building under new coach Ben Johnson. To get better, they’ll need the offensive line to protect Williams and the defense to show more toughness.
25. Raiders (1-1)
Las Vegas lost to the Chargers after quarterback Geno Smith threw three interceptions. Rookie running back Ashton Jeanty was a bright spot, showing quickness and toughness. The defense kept the Raiders in the game, but the turnovers were too much to overcome. Moving forward, Geno must take better care of the ball while the young players keep developing.
24. Texans (0-2)
Houston came close but lost 20–19 to Tampa Bay. Quarterback C.J. Stroud looked solid, and Nick Chubb scored a touchdown, but the Texans’ defense couldn’t stop the Buccaneers on the final drive. The Texans are still learning how to finish games. They’ll need to find more balance on offense and prove they can win tight contests.
23. Jets (0-2)
New York was overpowered by Buffalo, losing 30–10. The Jets’ run-heavy game plan with Justin Fields and Breece Hall didn’t work, as the Bills’ defense shut them down. The passing game also struggled, leaving the offense one-dimensional. Going forward, the Jets must find ways to stretch the field through the air and avoid falling behind early.
22. Patriots (1-1)
New England pulled off an exciting 33–27 win over Miami, thanks to big special teams plays. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye had ups and downs but showed toughness. The running backs and new playmakers gave the offense a spark. The Patriots still have a lot to improve, but the win gives them momentum heading into next week.
21. Falcons (1-1)
Atlanta beat Minnesota 22–6 behind a monster performance from Bijan Robinson, who rushed for over 140 yards. Rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. managed the game well and avoided turnovers. The Falcons’ defense also kept the Vikings in check. If they keep feeding Bijan and protecting Penix, Atlanta could make some noise in the NFC South.
20. Jaguars (1-1)
Jacksonville lost a close one to Cincinnati. Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdowns and looked comfortable in the new system, but the defense couldn’t hold in the fourth quarter. Rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten showed promise, but the Jaguars need to clean up mistakes. Next week, they’ll try to show they can finish strong.
19. Colts (2-0)
Indianapolis squeaked out a 29–28 win over Denver. Daniel Jones threw for over 300 yards, and Jonathan Taylor broke loose for a long run that set up the game-winning field goal. The Colts’ offense looks balanced, and their decision to start Jones is paying off. If Taylor stays healthy, this team could keep surprising people.
18. Vikings (1-1)
Minnesota struggled in a 22–6 loss to Atlanta. Rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy looked nervous and threw two interceptions, but Justin Jefferson still made plays. The defense wore down as the game went on. The Vikings will need McCarthy to keep learning quickly if they want to stay in the playoff race.
17. Cardinals (2-0)
Arizona held off Carolina 27–22. Kyler Murray spread the ball around, and rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. showed looked good even if the stats didn't show it. The defense also came up with key plays late. The Cardinals have momentum with two straight wins. If Murray and Harrison keep connecting, Arizona could be a surprise contender this season.
