Week 1 · 2026
Lawrence Lights the Fuse as Jaguars Roar Into 2026
Cleveland Browns 10 at Jacksonville Jaguars 34
How the Game Went
Jacksonville opened its home season with a 34-10 win over Cleveland. An early interception by Foyesade Oluokun set up Trevor Lawrence’s 30-yard touchdown pass to Parker Washington. Lawrence then found Josh Cameron for a 4-yard score. In the second quarter, Ventrell Miller forced a fumble, and Josh Hines-Allen recovered it. Lawrence turned that turnover into a 14-yard touchdown pass to Brenton Strange for a 24-0 lead. After halftime, Lawrence hit Jakobi Meyers for 32 yards, and Cam Little added a field goal. Cleveland scored late.
Standout Performers
Lawrence led the Jaguars with 245 passing yards, four touchdown passes, and no interceptions. Washington caught the first touchdown on a 30-yard play, while Cameron, Strange, and Meyers each caught one scoring pass. Bhayshul Tuten ran for 66 yards and made a 22-yard catch that helped create Meyers’s touchdown. Jacksonville’s defense was just as strong. It sacked Deshaun Watson five times, and Hines-Allen recovered the forced fumble. Watson threw for 205 yards and one touchdown for Cleveland.
What It Means
The Jaguars started 1-0 after showing that last season’s 13-win surprise may have been only the beginning. They will next play Denver. Cleveland fell to 0-1 and will travel to Tampa Bay. The Browns moved the ball at times, but they had two turnovers and only one third-down conversion. Jacksonville showed how teamwork can change a game: its defense created extra chances, and its offense quickly turned those chances into points. Cleveland kept fighting, though, scoring a field goal and a late touchdown.
