Week 7 · 2026

Jahmyr Gibbs Powers Lions’ Final March Past Green Bay

Green Bay Packers 17 at Detroit Lions 20

A Tight Start

Green Bay’s first drive reached Detroit’s 3-yard line, but its field-goal try sailed wide right. That early miss mattered because the NFC North rivals were about to play a game where nearly every yard counted. The Packers came in at 4-2 after three straight wins, while the 3-2 Lions wanted to show that last season’s missed playoff spot was behind them. Detroit answered quickly. Jared Goff hit Amon-Ra St. Brown for 28 yards, then found Jameson Williams for 24 more. On the next play, Williams caught a 16-yard touchdown pass for a 7-0 lead. Green Bay struck back when Jordan Love found Tucker Kraft for a 14-yard touchdown, tying the score before the first quarter ended.

Mistakes Shift the Game

St. Brown kept helping Detroit escape tough spots, making nine catches for 153 yards. A 40-yard field goal by Bates gave the Lions a 10-7 lead. Yet with 30 seconds left before halftime, Jahmyr Gibbs lost the ball at Green Bay’s 8-yard line, leaving Detroit without points from that drive. After the break, another lost ball gave Green Bay a chance near midfield. Love soon connected with Josh Jacobs for a 25-yard touchdown, and the Packers moved ahead 14-10. Detroit answered with speed and power. Goff threw a 30-yard pass to Williams, while Gibbs fought through runs that kept the drive alive. Goff then found Williams for a 10-yard touchdown, putting Detroit back in front, 17-14.

The Final March

Green Bay tied the game on a 43-yard field goal with 7:10 left. The Packers drove into range again late, but linebacker Wonnum blocked their 35-yard field-goal try with 3:25 remaining. The consequence was a final chance for Detroit to take control. Goff opened that drive with an 18-yard pass to Sam LaPorta, and a penalty against Green Bay moved the Lions farther ahead. Then Gibbs burst 15 yards to the Green Bay 25 and kept carrying the ball as Detroit used up the clock. His 29 carries and 116 rushing yards showed how much the Lions trusted him. Bates made a 22-yard field goal as time expired, lifting Detroit to a 20-17 win. The Lions improved to 4-2 and now head to Minnesota, while Green Bay fell to 4-3.
