Houston’s Final Kick Spoils Jacksonville’s Wembley Rally
Houston Texans 34 at Jacksonville Jaguars 31
A Fast Start in London
With only three seconds left at Wembley Stadium, Houston faced a 49-yard field goal with the score tied. The kick flew through the posts, giving the Texans a 34-31 win over Jacksonville. It was the last turn in a game where neither side stopped fighting. Houston had arrived with a 1-4 record and needed a lift. C.J. Stroud gave it one early, throwing 42 yards to Nico Collins. That big play set up Foster Moreau’s 6-yard touchdown catch. Jacksonville moved to Houston’s goal line on its next drive, but safety Bullock intercepted Trevor Lawrence there. The catch stole away a scoring chance and kept Houston ahead.
Answers Before Halftime
Jacksonville did not stay quiet for long. Parker Washington made a 27-yard catch, and Lawrence found Bhayshul Tuten for a 27-yard touchdown to tie the game. Houston added a field goal, but Lawrence guided Jacksonville back down the field. Tuten’s 2-yard touchdown catch put Jacksonville ahead 14-10 with 55 seconds left before halftime. That lead disappeared in a flash. Stroud hit Jaylin Noel for 50 yards, moving Houston close to the end zone. With eight seconds left in the half, Stroud connected with Moreau for a 1-yard touchdown. Houston led 17-14, and its quick response changed the game’s direction.
One Last Kick
After halftime, Houston kept pushing. Stroud led a long drive that ended with Noel’s 13-yard touchdown catch, making it 24-14. Jacksonville pulled closer when Lawrence threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Nate Boerkircher. Yet Jawhar Jordan broke free for a 25-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, and Houston’s lead grew to 31-21. Lawrence would not let the game end there. He threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns, including a 7-yard catch by Travis Hunter that made it 31-28. Hunter then intercepted Stroud in the end zone, stopping Houston from adding more points. Lawrence moved Jacksonville into range, and Cam Little kicked a 60-yard field goal to tie the score with 1:55 left. Stroud calmly led Houston across midfield once more. A 21-yard Collins catch and runs by Woody Marks and Jordan set up the final kick. Houston rose to 2-4, while Jacksonville fell to 4-2 after a comeback that nearly reached the finish line.
