Week 5 · 2026
Jaylen Warren’s Long Runs Power Steelers Past Colts
Indianapolis Colts 22 at Pittsburgh Steelers 34
A Flash Downfield
The Colts struck first in Pittsburgh when Spencer Shrader made a 57-yard field goal. Both teams had begun the day at 2–2, so every play mattered in the race for a better spot in the AFC. Then Jaylen Warren turned a short pass into a huge answer. Aaron Rodgers tossed him the ball, and Warren raced through Indianapolis for an 80-yard touchdown. Pittsburgh suddenly led 7–3, but Shrader made another long field goal to pull the Colts within one point.
The Colts Keep Chasing
Rodgers guided the Steelers forward again, and Pat Freiermuth caught a 1-yard touchdown pass for a 14–6 lead. Indianapolis did not fade away. Daniel Jones found Josh Downs for 42 yards and Laquon Treadwell for 22 more, bringing the Colts close to the goal line. After Jonathan Taylor was stopped twice, tight end Tyler Warren powered in from 1 yard out. The Colts trailed 14–13, but Rodgers used the final minutes before halftime to set up Chris Boswell’s 48-yard field goal. Pittsburgh carried a 17–13 lead into the break, though the Colts still had momentum.
Warren Breaks Free Again
Indianapolis opened the second half with a drive that ended in a short field goal, cutting the lead to 17–16. That was as close as the Colts would get before Jaylen Warren changed the game again. Freiermuth took a direct snap, meaning the ball was snapped straight to him instead of the quarterback, for a first down. On the next big play, Warren burst through the middle and ran 50 yards for a touchdown. The Colts kept pushing and reached the red zone, the area inside the other team’s 20-yard line, three times. Yet they scored only one touchdown there. Shrader’s fifth field goal made it 24–22 early in the fourth quarter, but Rodgers answered with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Freiermuth. Boswell added a 54-yard field goal, and Pittsburgh won 34–22. Warren finished with 101 rushing yards and 87 receiving yards as the Steelers improved to 3–2.
