Rams’ Ground Game Slams the Door in Las Vegas

Los Angeles Rams 35 at Las Vegas Raiders 21

A Fast Start in Vegas

The Rams needed a finish after two close losses, and they found one early in Las Vegas. The Raiders missed a 51-yard field goal, and Matthew Stafford led Los Angeles down the field. Puka Nacua ran 7 yards to help the drive, then Stafford threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Davis Allen. Las Vegas answered with a 30-yard field goal after Ashton Jeanty broke free for 21 yards. But the Rams kept their attack balanced, mixing runs with short passes. Kyren Williams ran for 9 yards, Colby Parkinson caught a 15-yard pass, and Stafford found Allen again for another touchdown. The Rams led 14-3.

The Lead Keeps Growing

Now the Rams had control, and their runners made it even stronger. Blake Corum burst through the defense for gains of 17 and 9 yards. Nacua kept catching passes for first downs, which let the Rams keep the ball and move forward. Stafford then hit Nacua for an 11-yard touchdown, stretching the lead to 21-3. Before halftime, Williams added another sharp turn in the story. He caught two key passes, then raced around the left side for a 17-yard touchdown. A late Raiders field goal made the score 28-6, but Los Angeles had built a 22-point lead. The Rams had used steady runs and quick throws to keep the Raiders defense on the field.

One Last Powerful Push

The Raiders showed determination after halftime and found chances to close the gap. Punter AJ Cole completed a surprise pass to begin one drive. Later, safety Jeremy Chinn recovered a Rams fumble, meaning he picked up the ball after a runner lost it. Still, Las Vegas did not score on either opening. Early in the fourth quarter, Tre Tucker caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins. A linebacker then intercepted Stafford, catching a pass meant for a Rams receiver, and Cousins soon threw a 15-yard touchdown to Jeanty. The score was suddenly 28-18. The Rams needed composure, and they answered at once. Stafford guided them back into scoring range, and Corum powered in from 4 yards out with 6:34 left. Corum finished with 93 rushing yards, while Williams had 99. Their running helped Los Angeles use the final minutes well and earn a 35-21 win. The Rams moved to 3-4, while the Raiders fell to 3-4 after scoring on only one of five trips inside the Rams’ 20-yard line.
