Case Keenum and the Bears Turn Monday Night Into a 27-7 Statement

Philadelphia Eagles 7 at Chicago Bears 27

A Veteran Takes Charge

Case Keenum had a big job on Monday night. Caleb Williams was unavailable, so the veteran quarterback stepped into the Chicago Bears lineup against the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears had lost 9-3 to Minnesota a week earlier, and they needed to show they could win with more than one player leading the way. Keenum started calmly, using short throws to move the offense down the field. Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland, and Kalif Raymond each helped the drive, while D’Andre Swift ran through tough tackles. Burden caught an 8-yard touchdown pass, and Chicago led 7-0.

Defense Changes the Game

The Bears defense made the next huge play. Tank Bigsby caught a short pass for Philadelphia, but a Chicago safety knocked the ball loose and recovered it at the Eagles’ 15-yard line. That fumble gave the Bears a short field, even though they did not score after it. More importantly, it showed Philadelphia that Chicago was ready to attack every mistake. Late in the first half, the Eagles reached the goal line. A Bears safety then intercepted backup quarterback Andy Dalton in the end zone, stopping a likely score. Keenum answered with a 25-yard pass to Burden and a 22-yard pass to Rome Odunze. Cairo Santos made a 29-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead, but Jalen Hurts ran in a score before halftime to pull Philadelphia within 10-7.

Chicago Slams the Door

Chicago stayed in control after the break. Santos kicked a 48-yard field goal, and Keenum led another careful drive. Raymond caught three passes, including a 41-yard touchdown that gave the Bears a 20-7 lead. Then linebacker T.J. Edwards intercepted Hurts late in the third quarter. Chicago used that chance to run down the clock with Swift and Kyle Monangai. Swift carried the ball 20 times for 84 yards, and Keenum recovered his own fumble during one scramble. After Swift pushed the ball to the 1-yard line, Keenum scored on a quarterback sneak. His two touchdown passes and 247 passing yards helped the Bears win 27-7 and improve to 2-1. Chicago held the ball for 36 minutes and 53 seconds, proving it could control a game against a powerful opponent.
