Jaylen Warren Powers Steelers Past Saints in Paris
Pittsburgh Steelers 16 at New Orleans Saints 10
Warren Starts the Charge
Jaylen Warren broke through the middle for 29 yards on Pittsburgh’s first drive in Paris. The run pushed the Steelers deep into Saints territory at Stade de France. New Orleans held firm near the goal line, so Chris Boswell made a 28-yard field goal. Pittsburgh led 3-0, and Warren had shown the steady running that would shape the day. Tyler Shough answered with quick passes to Chris Olave and Vele, but Pittsburgh’s pass rush stopped the drive. Warren and Rico Dowdle then helped Aaron Rodgers move the Steelers away from their own end. The game became a tough fight for field position, meaning each team tried to gain better ground before its next play.
A Fast Exchange Before Halftime
The Saints found a burst of life early in the second quarter. Brown caught a 49-yard pass, which moved New Orleans inside Pittsburgh’s 35-yard line. T.J. Watt sacked Shough, but Shough kept his composure and led the Saints close enough for Daniel Carlson’s 38-yard field goal. The score was tied 3-3. Rodgers answered quickly with help from Warren, who caught a 26-yard pass. Then DK Metcalf made a 51-yard catch and reached the Saints’ 4-yard line. Washington caught a 4-yard touchdown pass on the next part of the drive, putting Pittsburgh ahead 10-3. Shough led the Saints back with key catches from Olave, Alvin Kamara, and Vele. After two stops at the 1-yard line, Shough hit Vele for a 1-yard touchdown. Boswell’s 47-yard field goal at halftime, however, gave Pittsburgh a 13-10 edge.
The Final Push Ends
New Orleans had a big chance in the third quarter when Shough drove the Saints near the red zone, the area inside an opponent’s 20-yard line. But linebacker Wilson intercepted a pass meant for Olave at the Pittsburgh 11. That catch gave the ball to the Steelers and ended the Saints’ strongest chance to take the lead. Boswell added a 39-yard field goal, and Pittsburgh led 16-10. The Steelers kept the clock moving with their running game, as Warren finished with 101 rushing yards. Warren and Dowdle helped Pittsburgh gain 148 yards on the ground, while Rodgers completed 30 passes without an interception. New Orleans made one last push in the fourth quarter, but linebacker Queen sacked Shough and forced a punt. Pittsburgh converted 10 of 16 third downs and used the final minutes well. The Steelers moved to 5-2, while the Saints fell to 2-5 after a close fight in Paris.
